Today is the last day we're working before we go off on our long break. This also means it's the last post before the big day.

It's been a little over one year since we got engaged and the process has been frustrating sometimes, but often, if not always, enjoyable. Along the way, we've learnt so much, not only about weddings and marriage, about about one another.

Here's to the future!

The day draws ever so near

To use a cliche, we're into the final lap.

Almost everything is in order, aside from buying paper for printing of programs and couple of other small matters to attend to. All that's left to do now is attend rehearsal and show up on the actual day.

Of course, we also need to mentally and emotionally prepare ourselves for the big day, which means coming to terms with the big changes in store for our lives.

Do remember us and the actual day in your prayers.

As we enter the final week of preparation, a big THANK YOU in advance to everyone helping us. We know it will be busy and tiring for you, so, we can't express our gratitude enough for your selflessness, love and generosity!

Almost there

From counting down months to days, we're now almost at the point of counting down hours. So, first thing's first, for all of you who have received our invitations but have yet to RSVP, please do so now.

We've finalised our list of suppliers -- what a relief! For the flowers and church decor, we've decided to go with Wishing Tree. The wine for toasting during the banquet will a Cabernet Shiraz from Australia's Lindemans.

The church ceremony program is also done and needs only to be printed (nice way of saying photocopy). As for the caterers for the reception, well, good news for all you nasi lemak and char kuey teow fans!

Not much left to say except we look forward to seeing you on the big day, now a mere 17 days away.

Ah..finally we're done giving out most of the 500-odd invitation cards. A week's break and it's on to the RSVPs. So, you can expect a call from us soon!
It's been one month since the last post and obviously, the long period of non-blogging activity means we've been super busy preparing for the wedding and trying to set up the house at the same time.
The furniture have all arrived, which means its on to electrical items and decorative stuff next. Hopefully, we can make it a nice, cozy home by the time of the wedding.
Speaking of the wedding, Janice has sorted out her outfit for the entire day. It'll be 2 bridal gowns -- one for the morning and one for the night -- from Armadale and an evening gown from British designer Karen Millen (check out the links section and visit the website) while shoes will be from Guess? and Carven Ong.
My wardrobe will consist part-old stuff, part-Raoul, Zara and Topman. Nothing to rave about, but hopefully, the overall look will turn out nice.
Now that the clothes are taken care of, we have two other major decisions to make -- which decorator to appoint and what wine to get. We should have all that ironed out within a week's time and will post updates here for your reading pleasure.

Two months and counting...

At the time of this post, we have exactly two more months to go -- exciting, but also unnerving...
We've just received our invitation cards from the printers and are now busy filling in the names.
Most of you who are reading this would have probably already received your cards. We truly hope you can join us for the big day. It would mean a great deal to us.

There's still a ton of stuff left to do; not least of which, finding a good decorator -- good of course means someone who can get us white tulips, whether in season or not!

Completing our wardrobe for the day is another big task awaiting us. We've got most of it in order, but it's sorting out the smaller things, e.g. shoes, that seems to be a real challenge.

Well, that's all for now. As we get closer to the date, we'll be updating this site more regularly. For now, as promised, here are some of the photos from our pre-wedding shoot. Enjoy!

3 Piercings & A Wedding

What has ear piercings have to do with a wedding? Quite a bit, actually.
Over the CNY break, Janice got her ears pierced (the needle way at Borneo Ink). Now, she'll get to wear bling-blings for the wedding day.
In a show of solidarity, I had my left ear pierced too. With that and my tattoo, its obvious I'mm gonna age gracefully.

A month has passed since our last update and a lot has happened. For one, we've ordered our invitation cards. So, all you folks out there : be prepared! Won't say much more about it so as not to ruin the element of surprise.

We also got our photos back from the pre-wedding shoot and have narrowed the 700-odd shots down to our favorite 80. Soon enough, we'll be posting some of them here so, watch this space!

Meanwhile, we're drawing up the programs and itinerary for the day. That should keep us busy for another few weeks.

What? 2007 Already?

Happy New Year to all of you who've been reading our blog either out of interest, curiosity or just plain boredom.

Seemed like only a couple of blinks ago that we got engaged and started thinking about wedding plans.
How quickly we're into 2007 already, which means we have little more than 4 months to put everything together. And, considering how the past 8 months seemed like 8 days, 4 months pretty much means we don't have the luxury of time on our hands.
It also means, dear friends, you should probably expect a call from us soon asking for your help. To those privilleged enough to be enlisted, we'll make your efforts worthwhile by bestowing upon you the much-coveted title of "Honorary Member of the Organising Committee of the Wedding of Benjamin and Janice." And yes, you may put that on your resume!
But, seriously, we'll be forever in debt to all of you who will be willing to help in one way or another as the day approaches.

Our major task for this month : Smiling for the cameras.
We'll be taking our pre-wedding photos on Friday, Jan. 19. We'll update this blog with more details on the day's proceedings once its over. Meanwhile, here's hoping and praying for good weather that day.

Are we radical?

We have chosen our photographer for the actual wedding day and we're opting for something radical -- a Malay photographer for a church wedding!
A visit to his website (http://www.iskandaribrahim.com) will show you why we picked him -- we like his ability to capture moments and emotions that may only come once a lifetime.
We've yet to decide on the videographer (any volunteers?)
Oh yeah, and the make up artist (also for the actual day) has been booked.
Seven months have come and gone. A mere six months until the big day. As the cliche goes...so much to do, so little time.
Up next...gown and suit hunting.

It's easy because we think alike...

We've done the customary rounds of bridal studios in and around the Klang Valley and Armadale has come out tops.
Our hunt brought us to all sorts of places from the we-throw-in-more-gowns-than-you-could-possibly-wear, value-for-money types, to the niche (or some would say snooty) Covershots types.
In the end, we decided on the Damansara Heights-based Armadale. The choice wasn't a difficult one at all. We like pretty much everything they had to offer -- the unpretentious photography, the simple-yet-elegant gowns (they are from Carven Ong after all), the commendable service from the staff.
We've been pleasantly surprised by the fun we're having going through this whole process. It helps to be like-minded and to have similar tastes, to say the least.
Now that the pre-wedding package is done and dusted, we're moving on to appointing a photographer for the actual day, and perhaps, a videographer as well.

The search begins...

We are poised to begin our tour of Malaysian bridal studios on July 28. And that would be exactly 18 weeks since the engagement (a bit of a meaningless statistic, I know).

Anyway, at a time of rising prices of..well, nearly everything...let's hope there are still some good deals to be had out there! (and by good, I mean, a package -- gown, photography and all-- put together tastefully, at sensible prices with some actual service).
